Threat for additional heavy rain continues.

A persistent weather pattern that favors redevelop of thunderstorms each day, and locally Heavy Rain. Will generate yet another round of storms this afternoon and tonight. Given the abundant rainfall over the past few days and widespread damage in some areas, this additional rain could produce new flooding very quickly.

This could be a dangerous situation for areas already dealing with too much water and flooding.

6/23/13 Flood Warning in Southwestern Wisconsin

floodSymbolFlood Warning remains in effect for Richland, Vernon, northern Grant and Crawford counties until 1:00 pm CDT. At 9:27 am CDT, local law enforcement officials reported flooding and mudslides have damaged several roads across the area. Extensive flooding continues in the Boscobel area where several homes are flooded. Flooding is occurring along area rivers.

Locations impacted include: Lancaster, Prairie du Chien, Richland Center, Viroqua, Boscobel, Coon Valley, Fennimore, Muscoda, Stoddard and Westby.

National Weather Service Completes Survey of Damage in Richland County

Richland Center, WI:  Richland County Emergency Management met with representatives from the National Weather Service this morning to confirm tornado activity and continue assessing the damage of last night’s severe thunderstorm.  The survey of the damage has been completed and the National Weather Service will now analyze radar data and review aerial photos provided by local ARES/RACES volunteers to make a determination.  At this time it is unknown if the damage was caused by straight line winds, down bursts of wind, or an actual tornado.

Approximately 30 properties in Richland County have reported property damage from this storm.  Citizens who wish to report noteworthy property damage should contact Richland County Emergency Management at (608) 647-8187.  Individuals willing to share storm pictures or video footage should email their documents to weather@co.richland.wi.us.  Please include your name and contact information so that appropriate credit can be given.  Visit the Richland County website at em.co.richland.wi.us for further updates.
