Richland County, WI: Much of Richland County experiencing flooding due to the recent 7-9in of rain that fell, leading to the declaration of a State of Emergency.
This flash flooding has caused some roads throughout the county to be closed. As of 1:30pm this afternoon, the following roads were closed: State Highway 56, State Highway 80, State Highway 131, State Highway 171, County Highway AA, County Highway C, County Highway D, County Highway DD, County Highway E, County Highway F, County Highway G, County Highway MM, County Highway N, County Highway NN, County Highway Q, County Highway SR, County Highway TB, County Highway W, County Highway U, Bohmann Dr, Cribben Hill Road, Engine Creek Road, Judson Lane. Individuals may call 608-649-5766 to obtain up-to-date information about road closures and alternative routes.
A declaration of a State of Emergency had been made for Richland County and the City of Richland Center. Travel only if necessary, using extreme caution. Movement around the County may be dangerous, as many roads continue to be impacted by high water or debris. Remember “Turn around, don’t drown”! When water covers a roadway, there is no way to know the condition of the road to ensure it has not washed out. Water over roadways can also cause damage to a vehicle and/or sweep it away in the flowing water.
